Leading Change Workshop

When:  Jul 28, 2026 from 12:00 PM to 02:00 PM (ET)

Leading Change is an ASTHO workshop designed specifically for professionals in clinical and non-clinical public health roles. This two-day, in-person opportunity equips participants with strategies and skills to navigate change and uncertainty as individuals, team members, and organization-wide leaders. Emphasizing actionable instruction and resources, it enables leaders to create and implement real-world initiatives in their agencies for 2026 and beyond.

Participants will gain tools to design targeted initiatives and foster tangible organizational change. This experience prepares leaders to drive meaningful impact in their workplaces.

Workshop objectives:

  • Analyze responses to organizational change, contrasting 'thriving' and 'surviving' during both planned and unplanned transitions.
  • Define ways organizational culture impacts the change process.
  • Assess the application of Kotter’s four change principles as strategic tools in the public health context.
  • Apply principles and practices to advance organizational change.
  • Design a concrete action plan for advancing individual change initiatives.

Speaker: Alice J. Schenall, DrPH, MPH, Senior Advisor, Cross Sector Leadership and Change Management, ASTHO
