National Fielding Results

ASTHO sent the SPACECAT to 59 state and territorial/freely associated state health agencies between Oct. 25, 2021, and Jan. 7, 2022, and received a 73% response rate (N=59). Health agency leadership helped to identify the primary health agency staff and their programmatic teams, if any, for ACEs, suicide, and overdose prevention. Participating health agency staff provided one response on behalf of their health agency.

The SPACECAT included 37 questions with two domains: Topical Capacity and Infrastructure Capacity. During analysis, ASTHO calculated capacity scores to provide an easy way to quantitatively summarize an agency's capacity as indicated by its survey responses. In addition, ASTHO created thresholds to differentiate beginner, intermediate, and advanced capacity (see Figure 1). For more detail on the methodology, please see Appendix A in the SPACECAT National Report.

Dashboards

ASTHO's interactive data dashboards include national and regional SPACECAT results related to infrastructure capacity, topical capacity, and challenges to address the intersection of ACEs, suicide, and overdose. Data is visualized for individual programmatic areas and, when applicable, as a cross-cutting average of all three areas.
